Progress continues at the former Eddystone Hotel at 110 Sproat St., which is slated for 96 residential units of which 20 percent will be affordable housing. Installation of historically-accurate windows inspired by the original wood frames from 1924 began on schedule this Monday.
Construction on the nearly 100-year-old building is led by Michigan-based O’Brien Construction Company and the plans follow designs developed by architects at Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group, who are also behind the historic renovation of the former Women’s City Club redevelopment project. Additionally, the overall project is providing nearly 500 new jobs including construction, construction-related and permanent positions.
The $35 million redevelopment of the former Eddystone Hotel, located in The District Detroit adjacent to Little Caesars Arena, includes 4,000 square-feet of ground floor lobby and retail space in addition to the residential units, and is on schedule for Fall 2021 completion.
