In Detroit and around the world, the coronavirus has had a tremendous impact on all of our colleagues, family and friends; and our Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers part-time employees are family. In this time of uncertainty, it’s important for all of us to support our dedicated and hardworking colleagues and provide them and their families the reassurance they deserve.

Ilitch Holdings, Inc. first made a $1 million commitment to support our part-time Little Caesars Arena and Fox Theatre employees when concerts, NHL and NBA games were suspended as well as our Detroit Tigers spring training part-time hourly staff when those games were canceled. Now that further decisions have been made by Major League Baseball to delay the start of the season, we have another group of Detroit Tigers employees who face uncertain times. The Detroit Tigers are proud to join with all 30 MLB teams, who have unanimously come together to commit $1 million per team to support their staffs, to extend assistance to our part-time hourly staff at Comerica Park.

In addition, in keeping in line with our goal of supporting those hardest hit by cancellations and postponements, the Detroit Tigers will be paying our minor league players who were in spring training camp the remainder of their spring training allowances.

There are details that will be worked out in the coming days, but we are proud of the swift responses from all of the leagues. Our sincere hope is that this provides comfort to our colleagues in this difficult time. Once Detroit Tigers games resume, we look forward to our colleagues being safely back to work as normal.
