Another affiliate of Ilitch Charities, the Detroit Red Wings Foundation invests in the future of our community by providing funds and resources to worthy causes that contribute to the growth of the sport of hockey. True to the spirit of Hockeytown, past grants have supported inner-city youth hockey leagues, hockey programs for the mentally and physically disabled and a robust school assembly program that introduces students to the sport of hockey.

Hockeytown Cares now serves as the Red Wings' official platform to create positive change across Michigan. In partnership with fans, key stakeholders and colleagues, the team will provide innovative support focused on community investment and youth development. As part of Hockeytown Cares, the Detroit Red Wings Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities, will continue to raise funds and resources in support of the growth of hockey within our community.

Mike and Marian Ilitch began sponsoring youth hockey in the early years after becoming entrepreneurs and founding Little Caesars Pizza. Their love of the sport and the great things it does for young people blossomed through the years into some of the country’s most respected youth hockey programs – the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club and the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League.

The Detroit Tigers Foundation is the official charity of the Detroit Tigers baseball club and is an affiliate of Ilitch Charities.
