The historic Fox Theatre has illuminated its grand Christmas tree and hung up decorative wreaths, signaling another holiday season is underway in The District Detroit. Plenty of holiday-themed shows will hit the stage this month.

December 13, “Cirque Dreams Holidaze” begins its annual series of shows at the Fox Theatre, with five events running through Sunday, December 15.

Also at the Fox Theatre, a Christmas performance by Grammy Award-winning vocalist Michael W. Smith on December 18—with a full symphony orchestra and special guest Marc Martel—and Chip Davis’s Mannheim Steamroller, its 35th Anniversary tour this year, as they take over the Fox Theatre stage December 21.

After Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker dazzles audiences with its stunning sets and costumes on December 22, the one-of-a-kind musical event, “The SpongeBob Musical” will hit the stage on Christmas Eve with original songs by artists like Gospel musicians, Yolanda Adams; Aerosmith rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry; pop sensation, Sara Bareilles; and R&B/Soul crooner John Legend.

Finally, this season at Little Caesars Arena, on December 28, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the multi-platinum critically-acclaimed progressive rock group, will culminate holiday season in The District Detroit, performing classics like “Good King Joy.” Appealing to rock fans of all ages, the group has been called a “mix of The Who’s Tommy & Andrew Lloyd Weber with Pink Floyd’s lights.”
